Yet another blogging fad...

Alright, apparently I have been "tagged" for yet another blogging fad. So, here goes:

How many books do you own?
I'm in the 1000+ category

What was the last book you bought?
I bought 2 books at the Evanston library book sale right before I left. One was called Pita the Great, which was a cookbook with some interesting recipes for Hummus I had never seen (which says a lot). The other was a book on Trout Fishing, which I thought I might put to use sometime this summer, probably after CPE.

What was the Last book I read?
The Land that Time forgot by Edgar Rice Burroughs

The Five books that mean a lot to you (I am assuming this is excluding the Bible):
Dune (and series) by Frank Herbert
Cost of Discipleship by Dietrich Bonhoeffer
A Catcher in the Rye by JD Salinger
As I Lay Dying by William Faulkner
1984 by George Orwell

Honorable Mention: Anything else by WIlliam Faulkner, All Quiet on the Western Front, Frankenstein, Billy Budd, Holy Sonnets by John Donne

I guess I can tag Josh, Kyle, Andrew, Chan, and Will

Owning 1000+ books earns you the nickname 'book slut'
That could be true, but I'll ignore that comment ;)

This is in response to a post you made back in December on titusonenine regarding our protest of an anti-gay banner hung on our local Catholic church here in Connecticut.
As you may be aware, our state passed into law a rather watered-down version of a civil union bill, effectively ending the anti-gay faction's efforts to undermine our lives.
It is our continuing hope that you, as an aspiring priest, have been led by the Spirit to open your heart to the reality that Christ lives in the hearts of gay people as well as your own.
We would have preferred to contact you by email, but this seemed to be the only way to - admittedly, belatedly - respond to your comment.
It should also be noted that many of the parishioners of the church in question sought us out to apologize for the inflammatory banner and indicated that it was done without consultation or approval of the congregation as a whole.
We hope you will join us in thanks and praise as we prepare to renew our vows in New York in August in celebration of our first year of Civil Union marriage in the sight of God.
We also commend you for your Doberman rescue work; we are involved in Malamute rescue and praise God for our common ground on that issue.
Blessings to you as you grow in Christ.

Sincerely,
Joseph and Joshua Parker-Smith
