Annual Council

My diocese is having its Annual Council this weekend. I drove to the metropolis that is Kearney, Nebraska after lunch. That's pronounced Karn-ee for those not familiar with Nebraskan pronunciations. I am somewhat bemused that this town with its pronunciation that sounds peculiarly like carny.

Annual Councils are much like a flying circus, and the people who attend them show up in clerical attire, no doubt looking as odd as the carnies from the bigtop that blow in when the circus is in town.

At least clergy tend to bathe (although I do know a few who have tattoos and smoke.)
