I see it not as a mere secular undertaking of Henry; but an actual spiritual rejection by God towards Catholics. The Reformation was a long journey; completed when the State used their governance to further the cause. I never revere supposed 'saints' anyway.
That's a pretty dangerous attitude, if I do say so. To say that God was rejecting Catholics is theologically perilous. If God could summarily reject Catholics, God could just as easily reject Protestants in the future. A God like that is not worthy of worship because he is fickle and vindictive and does not honor His promises.
As to Saints, I think we reject them as well to our peril. We see Christ in His saints. To reject the saints is to reject the bride of Christ.
